Itinerary

Day 1) Arrival, Rome Arrival Rome and transfer  to hotel in Rome on your own.  Meet tour escort and welcome dinner in a typical “Osteria d’Italia”. Info on Slow Food Tour. Overnight (D)

Day 2) Pienza, Montepulciano Renaissance Pienza. Visit a Pecorino Cheese producer for a tasting. Montepulciano, intact medieval cities in Italy. Visit the Gattavecchi winery for a tasting.Later visit town centre. Overnight Villa Il Palagio in Rignano Sull’Arno (Florence)  (BB, T, T)

Day 3) Florence, In the morning visit Mercato Centrale Firenze, covered marketplace. Shops offering traditional food at the right price. Walking tour of historical center Transfer to hotel overnight. (BB, T)

Day 4) Castellina, Greve and San Polo in Chianti Today discover Chianti , Via Chiantigena (ancient Roman road) Arrive Castellina in Chianti for an explanation on aromatic herbs harvested in area. On to Greve,  visit historical town center free time for lunch. Visit Azienda Frantoio Pruneti in San Polo lesson on food culture and an oil tasting. Return to overnight. (BB, T)

Day 5) San Gimignano, Siena San Gimignano, famous for its medieval  towers.  On to Siena, lunch with some  local produce such as the Certaldo onion (SlowFood Presidium).Visit   family run farmhouse Il Castagnolino learn about and taste Organic Olive Oil.  Visit Siena sampling some  traditional desserts,  Panforte.  Return to hotel overnight (BB, LL)

Day 6) Montalcino Montalcino and it’s Brunello, one of the best red’s in the world.  Dominates 3,000 hectares of vineyards (1,500 for Brunello). Visit to the Mastio della Rocca and  Enoteca La Fortezza, for purchases of local products and  sample some wine. Enroute to Florence join cooking class on Tuscan traditions, dinner. Overnight.  Day 7) Civita di Bagnoreggio, Rome Depart for Rome.  Stop on route in Civita di Bagnoregio admired  its  ancient architecture. Free time for lunch. Rome Check in at your hotel.  Farwell dinner in a local restaurant. Overnight. (BB, D)

Day 8) Departure after breakfast, free time. End of tour. (BB)
