Prestige Uffizi Gallery & Vasari Corridor & The Medici Walk (Skip the Line)
When in Florence… do like the Medici used to do! There’s Ponte Vecchio, but have you ever noticed the corridor that crosses above it? This is the best kept secret of Florence – A private passageway dating back to 1564. The Grand Duke of Florence, Cosimo I de’Medici, did not like walking among the people and ordered his architect, Giorgio Vasari, to built a path that would allow him to move freely from their residence to the government palace. It turned out to be one of the most astonishing architectural masterpieces of the Renaissance. The corridor goes along for almost 1 mile and shows itself only rarely. The corridor is usually closed to the public but we offer the chance of a lifetime after your guided tour of the Uffizi Gallery (“skip the line” reserved entrance). From the inside the Uffizi, the doors of the Vasari Corridor will be opened exclusively for our group for a private walk. The corridor leads from the Uffizi, over the Ponte Vecchio, by the houses and even through a church, Santa Felicità, where you will admire the interior from the private balcony of the Royal family, to end the path into the gardens of Palazzo Pitti. Along the corridor the greatest collection of self portrait of Europe is hosted, with paintings by several important artists. The corridor is rarely open to the public, so take advantage of this unique opportunity to view Florence and its artistic pleasures on this exclusive guided walking tour. The Corridor also houses the greatest collections of portraits and self-portraits in the world. Before this very exclusive opening of the unique Vasari Corridor, you will also enjoy a 1 and a half hour guided tour of the main rooms of the Uffizi Gallery. You will thus be able to view the main masterpieces by artists like Giotto, Botticelli, Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, etc.
